The Derivative

The derivative of f(x) can be written as f '(x), or more commonly when y = f(x), dy/dx. The equation shown earlier in the tangent to the curve can be generalized.

The derivative of a constant, such as 1, 2, 3.. 2/9, sqrt(3), etc is 0.
The derivative of y = mx+b is m, the slope of the line y.
The derivative of a term x raised to a power n is just as shown.
